A Free Pastoral Self-Assessment

Most pastors lead.
Few shepherd.

There is a difference — and it matters.

Scripture does not call you to be a leader who happens to pastor. It calls you to be a shepherd. This free assessment helps you discover how you are doing across the 10 principles of shepherding — and gives you a personalized, scripture-based path forward.

The Research

Built from Scripture. Validated by research.

This assessment is grounded in doctoral research examining the shepherd metaphor across John 10, Psalm 23, Ezekiel 34, Jeremiah 23, Zechariah, John 21, and 1 Peter 5. From that study, 10 shepherding principles emerged — not as theory, but as the lived practice of healthy pastoral ministry.

A phenomenological study of active pastors confirmed every principle was present in healthy churches. Yet none of those pastors described their ministry as shepherding. They had the instincts. They lacked the language — and the mirror.

This tool gives you the mirror.
